The founders Rudi Weissmann and Daniel Stager, due to this international growing competition, cmplexity and demand for low air fares, they felt the need fr an Organisation providing a common platform for international agency networking.

In 1981 after a "revolutionary" first meeting in Zurich, the funders and some more members agreed to establish ITA as a non-profit organisation with a common goal in the interest of its members.

An assciation of like minded travel specialist was established to have regular exchange of information of airfare, make regular contacts with members and exchange know how mutually benefting the members.
